Job Description:
(A) The Role:
We are looking for a Junior Associate who is serious about mastering the mechanics of litigation. You are a protégé, not a service-provider. You will not be relegated to back-office research or redundant administrative tasks. You will instead be integrated directly into active advocacy. This is an apprenticeship for juniors who intend to become professional advocates.
You will be expected to:
1. Manage civil/commercial and public-interest litigation.
2. Draft cause papers (pleadings, interlocutory applications and trial-related submissions).
3. Handle court proceedings, including hearings, trials and witness examination.
You will experience high-level litigation involvement.
(B) What We Offer:
1. Direct Mentorship: No layers of bureaucracy. You work directly with the lead counsel.
2. Accelerated Career Growth: We offer an environment where your responsibilities are limited only by your ability to handle them. You will be given the autonomy to grow as a lawyer as quickly as you demonstrate your competence.
3. Professional Standards: We prioritise a culture of ownership. You will work in an environment where the quality of your work is the primary measure of your success.
(C) The Ideal Profile:
1. We value substance over academic pedigree. We hire for character.
2. You are the right fit for Nav & Co if you embody these traits: (i) Uncompromising Character; (ii) Emotional Resilience; (iii) Trainable Intellect.
3. Additionally, being strong-willed and opinionated will serve you well within the firm’s culture.
4. Humour appreciated, but not mandatory. A sharp sense of humour is advantageous, but it will not make or break your candidacy. Or, it might.
