Job Description:
LEGAL ASSOCIATE (CIVIL LITIGATION)
- Manage civil litigation and construction matters.
- Draft pleadings, affidavits, submissions, legal opinions, cause papers and legal correspondence.
- Attend case managements, hearings, trials, appeals, mediations and client meetings.
- Conduct legal research and formulate litigation strategies.
- Advise clients on legal and commercial issues arising from disputes.
- Work closely with partners and team members on complex and high-value litigation matters.
- Proactively keep clients informed through timely, clear and systematic updates on case developments and outstanding information.
PUPIL IN CHAMBERS
- Assist in handling civil and commercial litigation matters.
- Draft pleadings, affidavits, submissions, legal opinions and legal correspondence.
- Conduct legal research and assist in developing litigation strategies.
- Prepare cause papers, bundles of documents, records of appeal and hearing bundles.
- Attend court proceedings, client meetings, mediations and conferences.
- Assist in file management and client communications.
- Receive continuous mentorship, feedback and practical training throughout your pupillage.
INTERN
Our internship programme is designed to provide law students with broad practical exposure to legal practice.
Interns at YSLK will have the opportunity to work with and learn from the firm's various practice groups, allowing them to gain a comprehensive understanding of legal practice and the day-to-day operations of a modern law firm.

- One (1) to three (3) years' experience in civil litigation.
- Possess a valid Practising Certificate.
- Strong drafting, analytical and advocacy skills.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willing to travel when required.
- Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Mandarin proficiency is an added advantage.
- Positive, responsible and committed with a willingness to learn.
PUPIL IN CHAMBERS
- Strong legal research and drafting skills.
- Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Proactive, responsible and able to work under pressure.
- Able to contribute as part of a team.
- Genuine interest in litigation and dispute resolution.
- Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with the Rules of Court 2012 is an added advantage.
- Committed, meticulous, positive and eager to learn.
INTERN
- Currently pursuing an LL.B. (Year 1–3) or equivalent law degree.
- Strong research, analytical and organisational skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple assignments.
- Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Positive attitude, hardworking, responsible, meticulous and willing to learn.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team.
- One (1) to three (3) years' experience in civil litigation.
