Job Description:
The role of the Claims Manager is to advise, administer and manage the claims for the Malaysian Bar (MBar) professional indemnity insurance scheme. The primary role requires the individual to provide claims support to those insured parties (IPs) under the scheme. He/she is to manage claims accurately and efficiently whilst developing advisory skills for further career progression.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee the claims management of IPs and conduct monthly claims review with MBar PII Committee, PII & RM Department and insurers/reinsurers
• To be the focal point for claims management under the scheme, advising insured parties and liaising with all relevant parties on claims management
• Be responsible for the management and processing of claims from insured parties under the scheme
• Respond to and process claims notifications from insured parties to insurers or insurers representatives
• Draft and manage claims declinature and claim appeals to insurers/reinsurers
• Support Echelon Claims Consultants (ECC) in following up with insured parties on collecting base excess payments and obtaining further documents in relation to claims
• To assist the department head in preparation of claims reports for the joint claims meeting with Mbar PII Committee
• Ensure that the department head is kept fully aware and informed of all pertinent issues or problems and wherever possible, provide solutions
• Develop and build client relationships with MBar PII Committee, Bar Council of Malaysia and its members.
• Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations, procedures and controls
• Respond to non-routine and complex inquiries
• To be flexible in terms of working hours to complete all duties assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:
• Degree and professional qualification in Law
• 3 -5 years’ experience in Legal Practice within the areas of litigation and/or conveyancing
• Insurance experience preferred
• Good knowledge of law including litigation and conveyancing
• Knowledge of insurance and risk management will be an added advantage
• Good written and communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
