Job Description:
The Malaysian Bar is a statutory body mandated to uphold the cause of justice and regulate the legal profession. As a Special Officer, you will work closely with the leadership of the Malaysian Bar on matters concerning public interest and the legal profession. This role offers a rare opportunity to experience the inner workings of the legal system and the legal profession and play a part in, amongst others, the creation and reform of laws and policies.

Responsibilities:
• Perform legal and general research.
• Review / analyse / write reports, position papers, correspondence, speeches, press statements, etc.
• Liaise with external parties, including governmental and non-governmental bodies and agencies, and external solicitors.


Qualifications and Requirements:
Requirements:
Education and Work Experience
• Possess an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in law.
• Admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya or a barrister-at-law of England.
• Possess at least three to five years of post-qualifying experience as a legal practitioner.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in high-level and complex legal research.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to exercise a high degree of sound judgment in decision-making.
• Detail-oriented, meticulous, consistent, precise and thorough.
• Self-motivated and driven to improve.
• Adaptive and collaborative. Able to work independently in a challenging environment with minimum supervision and produce detailed and accurate work under tight deadlines.
• Excellent command of English and good command of Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken.
• High level of computer literacy, including proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace.
