Job Description:
About the Role – Employment Associate (Litigation)
We are looking for a dedicated lawyer to join our employment practice group as an employment litigation associate. In this role, you will handle a range of employment and industrial relations disputes, from unfair dismissal claims to employment-related civil claims. You will also occasionally support clients on pre-dispute advisory, giving practical, business-oriented advice on workplace issues. This is a hands-on role with direct client exposure, fast learning, and real responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
• Representing employers in unfair dismissal claims at the Industrial Court, as well as handling related appeals and judicial reviews.
• Representing employers in other types of employment disputes, including civil claims and labour office matters.
• Providing pre-dispute advisory on matters relating to misconduct or poor performance, including advising on domestic inquiries and performance improvement plans.
• Advising on allegations of constructive dismissal.

Why Join Us?
We are an employment law team, recognised by The Legal 500, Chambers and Partners, Benchmark Litigation and Asialaw. What drives us is not the rankings; it’s doing work that matters.

We help clients solve workplace issues with practical, commercial, and strategic advice. We expect professional standards and give you the support and tools to meet them.

This is an advisory role and ideal for lawyers who are passionate about employment law but would like to stay out of the court room. Litigators may disagree, but not every great lawyer is in court. Advisory work gives you the opportunity to build deep client relationships, understand how businesses operate, and help them prevent problems before they arise. You will be involved in shaping policies, guiding internal investigations, and supporting clients through change and playing your part in creating a fair work environment for others.

In this role you will work with companies from a range of industries. The cases we handle are varied , so there will be plenty to learn.

Culture wise, we are a close-knit team that values collaboration, integrity, clear communication, and doing things well without overcomplicating them.

If you care about employment law, want to do meaningful work, and thrive in a professional but down-to-earth environment, we would love to hear from you.

Qualifications and Requirements:
Requirements
• Advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya
• 2-5 years of uninterrupted legal practice in employment law.
• Must have experience in employment litigation, ie: representing employers at Industrial Court, or appearing before the civil courts for employment related civil claims, appeals and/or judicial review. If shortlisted, you are expected to demonstrate this experience and showcase your technical knowledge of employment law during the interview.
• Must have experience in dealing with clients from diverse backgrounds including start-ups, small-medium enterprises and multinational corporations.
• Strong command of English, with the ability to write concisely and with clarity. You may be asked to show a sample of your work product.
