Job Description:
Manager, Legal

1. The Manager, Legal is responsible to oversee and manage legal affairs related matters for the Corporation, its subsidiaries and related entities (“the Group”).
2. Provide legal support, advice, strategic planning and ensure compliance with laws and regulations, manage legal risks and oversee litigation related matters.
3. Offering expert legal advice and guidance on a wide range of legal issues, including corporate, commercial, regulatory, and compliance matters
4. Ensuring compliance and adherence to all relevant laws, regulations and internal policies by the Corporation and related entities within the Group
5. Identifying, assessing, and mitigating legal risks associated with business decisions and operations, developing strategies to minimise potential liabilities.
6. Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, agreements and other legal documents/instruments to protect the interests of the Corporation and related entities within the Group
7. Handling or overseeing litigation, disputes and negotiations and working closely with external counsel
8. Creating and implementing standard legal policies, procedures, and templates to ensure consistency and efficiency across the Group
9. Conduct training and awareness programmes on key legal topics and other compliance related subjects to educate employees and promote a culture of compliance
10. Contribute to the development and implementation of the Group’s strategic goals by aligning them with legal and compliance requirements

Executive, Legal

1. Preparing and reviewing agreements / contracts in a timely and accurate manner.
2. Undertaking legal research and submitting findings and appropriate recommendations.
3. Drafting internal and external communication and correspondences.
4. Review, recommend, develop and enhance templates, processes, policies, procedures or guidelines for respective business units.
5. Communicate effectively with internal and external parties, explaining the legal issues and the contract terms.
6. Managing and keeping an oversight of contracts for stamping, renewal and document management.
7. Keeping up with the current changes on all areas of law and contribute to enhancement of the Company’s legal unit.
8. Assisting in litigation matters (drafting, amending, problem solving, case review and research).
9. Liaising with, instruct and receive updates from external counsels on litigation matters.
10. Provide prompt updates and reports as and when requested by the management; and
11. Any other ad hoc or related tasks as and when required.


Qualifications and Requirements:
Manager, Legal

1. Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognised university
2. Admitted to the Malaysian Bar
3. 10-15 years post-qualification experience. Experience in both private practice and as an in- house legal counsel would be an added advantage
4. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to advise and interact with various stakeholders, both internally and externally
5. Deep understanding of Malaysian law, particularly in areas relevant to the Group’s operations and industry
6. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
7. Proficiency in both English and Bahasa Malaysia
8. Experience in drafting and negotiating complex legal documents
9. Good understanding of the business environment and commercial considerations relevant to the Group’s operations
10. Deep understanding of Malaysian law, particularly in areas relevant to the Group’s operations and industry
11. Ability to analyse complex legal issues, identify potential risks, and develop effective solutions
12. Ability to lead and manage a team of legal professionals, providing guidance, support, and direction
13. Ability to think strategically and contribute to the Group’s overall business strategy from a legal and compliance perspective
14. Strong negotiation and advocacy skills to represent the Group’s interests effectively
15. Skilled in using Microsoft 365
16. Based in Ipoh, Perak

Executive, Legal

1. Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) or equivalent and admitted to the Malaysian Bar.
2. Minimum 3 years of post-qualifying experience (PQE).
3. Excellent command of both written and spoken Bahasa Malaysia and English.
4. Resourceful and proactive, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
5. Detail-oriented, meticulous, precise and thorough.
6. A good team player with excellent interpersonal, communication and management skills with high level of integrity and confidentiality.
7. Adaptable to a fast-paced working environment. Collaborative but also able to work independently in a challenging environment with minimum supervision and tight deadlines
8. Skilled in using Microsoft Office
9. Based in Ipoh, Perak
