Job Description:
Messrs Y Kong Wong & Partners is inviting applications from Partner-level lawyers who want more than a title, lawyers who want ownership, autonomy and a real say in how they practise law.
We are a Malaysian law firm collaborating with Yingke International, a global legal network with 97 domestic branches and 83 member firms worldwide. Through this platform, we serve both local and cross-border clients, with growing emphasis on international and China-related work.
This is not a conventional lateral partner role.
All practice areas are welcome. Conveyancing and Corporate/Commercial practitioners are particularly encouraged, but we are open to lawyers with complementary strengths, a portable practice, or a clear growth vision.
Assessment & Integration Period
Selected candidates will undergo a 6-month assessment period, focusing on:
• Practice synergy and chemistry
• Client and revenue alignment
• Shared values, working style, and long-term direction
The objective is to ensure the partnership works both ways.

What You’ll Get Here
• Access to an international platform via Yingke International
• Partner-level collaboration after the assessment period, subject to mutual fit
• Tailor-made compensation and profit-sharing structure (transparent expectations; minimum thresholds apply)
• Less bureaucracy, less admin — more time to grow your practice
• Hybrid and flexible working approach (outcome-driven, not clock-driven)
• Travel opportunities where it makes commercial sense (linked to matters and revenue)
Legal Intern (with allowance)
What You’ll Be Exposed To
• Day-to-day operations of a Malaysian law firm
• Legal research and drafting assistance
• Exposure to litigation, corporate/commercial advisory, and conveyancing matters
• Case and client file management support
• Introduction to cross-border and China Desk work (where applicable)
• Understanding professional standards, workflow, and responsibility
This internship is suitable for candidates who want clarity on:
• Whether legal practice suits them
• Which area of law they may wish to pursue
• How lawyers think, manage pressure, and make decisions
